Next2.us is a placed-based, topic-driven social network that works by SMS or browser. What that means is that with Next2.us you can;
- Set a location on a map (by entering street address, city, or state).
- Set a sharing circle around your location (automatically set at 10 miles but can be changed by sending a SMS command to increase or decrease the size of the sharing circle around your address).
- Signal what you have, or want to share with others, or what you would like to discuss with others that are located within your geographic sharing circle.
- You signal what you have, want or would like to discuss by starting your message with one of the primary keywords (want, have or discuss) followed by a topic keyword or keyphrase of your own choosing.
- The primary and topic keyword together define the purpose of your message. Next2.us uses both keywords together to interperate a match between messages and then exchanges the messages between users.
Next2.us automatically exchanges text messagings between users based on user's location, sharing circle and use of primary and topic keywords. Next2.us messaging supports both public and private message exchange. Your Next2.us account name works as a text message address (without revealing your mobile phone number).
You can stop or re-start the service at anytime by sending a text message to a local phone number.
What does Next2.us do for me?

No, you do not need a connection to the internet to use Next2.us. With simple SMS text messaging you can create an account, set you location on a map, increase or decrease your sharing circle and post private or public match messages and send and receive messages with other users using any mobile phone that can send and receivce text messages.
Via your Next2.us web page your public text messages will appear on the internet and internet users can send a text message to your mobile phone right from your Next2.us web page.
What is a Next2.us account name?
When you start your Next2.us account you text Next2.us the name you want to use and the location where we should locate your account and sharing circle. Your account name works in a number of ways;
- Your account name works as a web home page at the Next2.us web site (http://m.next2.us/account_name)
- When you content is exchanged with others they may reply to you by using your Next2.us account name (without knowing your mobile phone number).
- Replies come in as new text messages on your mobile phone.
- Any Next2.us users that knows you account name can send you a text message using your Next2.us account name.
How does Next2.us exchange messages between users?
When a Next2.us user matches messages with another user Next2.us exchanges the messages between users as if the two users had sent a text message to each other. The match message contains the user's Next2.us user name and the text of the message. Users may use Next2.us to direct message each other or they may exchanged mobile phone numbers to conduct a text message conversation outside the Next2.us network.
Next2.us exchanges messsages based on users' location, overlay of sharing circles and the primary and topic keywords used in the text messages. All messages sent to Next2.us are saved. At a point of time in the future (usually at 12:00 am EST), Next2.us takes all new messages and compares them. Messages that "match" are then exchanged between users and sent as an new incoming text message to your mobile phone.
If a message does not have a match, it is included as a new message the next time Next2.us processes messages. If the message then has a match it is exchanged. If there is still no match the message is included as a new message for two weeks (14 days). If no match is found after 14 days the message is deleted from the database (but public messages will still appear at the user's Next2.us web page).
Next2.us calls this processing of messages at future time "near-time" processing.
When does Next2.us process messages?
Next2.us processes messages once a day. As the volume of Next2.us messages grows, Next2.us will process messages on a more frequent (hourly) basis.
What is private messages vs public messages?
Next2.us allows for matching of both public and private messages. Public messages appear at your Next2.us web page. Public messages are only matched with other public messages sent by users. Private messages do not appear at your Next2.us web page and are only exchanged between users as new incoming text messages. Private messages are only matched with other private messages.
What is a "purpose" keyword
Next2.us uses a two keyword system to match messages between users. The first keyword is called the "purpose" keyword and defines or describes the "purpose" of your post. Currently there are three purpose keywords. They are;
- want
- have
- discuss
Purpose keywords match with the purpose keywords used by other users. The purpose keywords match by
- Messages that start with want match with messages that start with have, likewise,
- Messages that start with have match with messages that start with want.
- Messages that start with discuss match with messages that also start with discuss.
All text messages send using Next2.us must start with the word: want, have or discuss
What is a "topic" keyword or phrase.
The second part of the Next2.us keyword match technology is called the "topic" keyword. The topic keyword or keyword phrase works with the purpose keyword and classifies the subject of your message. (What you have, or want or the topic/subject you would like to discuss with others.) The topic keyword can be any word, subject or phrase (no spaces please). In matched messages the topic keyword is exactly the same in each message.

User 1 texts: Want bike to buy for my ride to work. good condition, willing to pay $50

The topic keyword bike is the same in both messages. User 1 would receive User 2's message as a reply and User 2 would receive User 1's message as a reply.
The topic keyword must immediately follow the primary keyword and must be exactly the same word or phrase for the messages to be automatically exchanged between users.
How do I start using Next2.us?
You start using Next2.us by sending a text message from your mobile phone to register your phone number (with the name for you account and your location) to your country SMS short code. Next2.us will reply by text message confirming your account.

To delete you account text the "unreg" command to your country short code. This will unregister your mobile phone number, delete your account and any text messages sent using Next2.us. You may register your mobile number again by sending the "reg" command followed by your name and location.
